Ololo Safari Lodge, owned and run by an Australian farming family, offers the warmth and comfort of a home with effortless style and personalized service.

Ololo is a true haven on the edge of the city and it cleverly combines a total sense of wilderness with incredible accessibility. Originally an old Kenyan homestead and since converted to a small luxury lodge, Ololo is perfectly situated, on the beautiful banks of the Mbagathi River which forms the southern border of the Nairobi National Park.

More about Ololo Safari Lodge & Farm

The lodge is a mere 45-minute drive through the park from Nairobi and both main airports, yet the lodge's secluded location feels like a world away. Guests arriving on night flights can enjoy a ‘night game drive’ experience to the lodge which is perhaps the ultimate way to immerse yourself into safari !

Set on a productive 20 acre regenerative working organic farm, a stand out for us is the sustainability of Ololo who celebrate the joys of their delicious ‘paddock to plate’ fresh ingredients. The farm produces everything from fruit, vegetables and salad greens to eggs, meat, mushrooms and milk for their delicious ice creams. Their restaurant, ‘The Kitchen at Ololo’ ensures a memorable dining experience and guests are encouraged to visit the vegetable gardens, mushroom house, chicken and duck runs and even help milk the cows to learn about and appreciate their foodie philosophy.

With their established and secluded gardens, guests are able to settle in and soak up a unique safari experience. Wildlife is right on the doorstep. Many people don’t appreciate how rich a wildlife destination Nairobi National park is, it is particularly famed for its thriving black and white rhino populations. It is also home to over 430  species of birdlife, many of which can be spotted around the Ololo gardens.

Whilst many travelers choose to only opt for a one night stay in Nairobi when you stay at Ololo there is so much to do beyond the wildlife experience a 2 or 3 night stay is optimal, enjoy a relaxing massage or unwind by the pool, take a day trip into historic Karen or visit the gloriously colourful Kitengela glass workshop where they make stunning crafts from recycled glass.

Ololo’s rooms are unique and diverse, each tastefully appointed with attention to historical detail. The accommodation at Ololo ranges from the farm's old converted stables, tented cottages under makuti thatch and to the original suites in the main house of the lodge.

Ololo has an incredible workshop at the lodge where they make most of their stunning hand crafted furniture for the lodge. They plan to expand this into a furniture boutique this year as they have had such demand for their pieces. This is testament to the care and consideration there is at Ololo from all the little design touches to the excellent food and their incredibly warm and professional staff. Ololo’s unique setting and home-style comfort make it a very special place to stay and the perfect starting or end point of your journey in Kenya.
